Opening Night at Girl & The Goat

June 13, 2010 – Stephanie Izard (Winner of Bravo’s Top Chef s4) has finally opened her restaurant named “Girl & The Goat.” NYMag/GrubStreet asked me to photograph their opening night; you can find those images [here].

I have also included a handful of images that NYMag did not run, below. Enjoy!

Featuring Photography by Yeti

February 18, 2010 – This evening, Yeti exhibited some of his work at a local art exposition. Congrats!

With my versatile Canon G11 in hand, I grabbed a great portrait (if I do say so myself) of him posing by some of his work!

[ iPhoneography ] Roosevelt Auditorium

Apart from sharing pictures taken with my ‘professional’ equipment, I will occassionally share some candid/iPhone-shot images— as famed photographer said, “The best camera is the one that’s with you.” In many cases, the only camera that I have on me is my iPhone. Attached here is an image that was stitched and processed entirely on my iPhone. On top of that, this blog entry has also been composed on my iPhone  (yep, there’s an app for that!). Hopefully this works out…

As for the picture, it’s a snap of a packed Roosevelt Auditorium just prior to The Swell Season taking the stage (P.S. It was a killer show).

Chicago Fashion Week

October 22, 2009 – Albeit a tad outdated, I just wanted to share a picture from Chicago Fashion Week. Whereas I’ve worked Montreal Fashion Week for many years now, this was the first time that I covered its Chicago counterpart. Featuring a gamut of local designers, it would have been nice to see more more ‘high profile’ couture. Notwithstanding, I had a great time and got a chance to meet some of Chicago’s event photographers.

Xmarx Chicago’s New Event Space

November 21, 2009 – After a short hiatus, the purchase of a mobile kitchen-in-a-truck and a handful of events at mysterious locations, Xmarx has settled down in their new space (sorry, can’t give you any further details~ Xmarx is technically an ‘underground’ culinary experience). During this special Games and Game dinner, fellow photographer Kipling Swehla (kiplingphoto.com) exhibited his most recent personal project documenting multitudes of board games that many of us enjoyed (from Battleship and Operation to Barrel of Monkeys and Choas) as children. In contrast, Xmarx Chicago served guests/diners with an all-game menu including duck tongue tacos, goose fat-braised beef cheeks and elk tartare, to name a few.

Notable guests included Alpana Singh (Master Sommelier and host of Check Please!) and Heather Sperling (Editor of Tasting Table Chicago; tastingtable.com).

Underground Winemaker’s Dinner

October 28, 2009 – I recently had the opportunity to eat at (and document) an Underground Winemaker’s dinner featuring two exceptional winemakers: Aleš Kristančič of Movia Wines (Slovenia) and Giusto Occhipinti of Azienda Agricola Cos (Italy). This seven-course dinner was accompanied by 5 Movia and 4 Cos wines… For the record, my favs were the Lunar and Veliko Rosso (Movia) and the Pithos (Cos). Special thanks to Craig Perman (permanwine.com) and XMarx Chicago (xmarxchicago.com) for making me a part of this wonderful event.

Pinot Days 2009

November 14, 2009 – With a love for wine, food and photography, the stars were aligned when I was asked to cover Pinot Days 2009 at Navy Pier. Featuring 300 different domestic (and several international) Pinot Noirs and a selection of high-end wine-friendly snacks, this was an event that had my name all over it!
